Two-time Emmy-nominated director, writer, and producer Alexis Ostrander has directed 34 episodes of television, building a career directing bold, visually distinctive work while developing an ambitious slate of original and adapted film and television projects. Drawn to complex characters, immersive worlds, and unforgettable stories, she gravitates toward material she can't stop thinking about.

Her television directing credits include INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, SERVANT, THE CONSULTANT, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, FIRE COUNTRY, TRUTH BE TOLD, SUPERGIRL, CRUEL SUMMER, MAYFAIR WITCHES, CONDOR, SWAMP THING, RIVERDALE, SHADOWHUNTERS, NANCY DREW, SEAL TEAM, DEADLY CLASS, PEARSON, IMPULSE, and THE ARRANGEMENT, as well as the upcoming Disney Channel series COVEN ACADEMY.

As pilot director and Co-Executive Producer of Hulu's LIGHT AS A FEATHER, Alexis earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing. She later received a Children's & Family Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Single Camera Program for her work on Netflix's SWEET TOOTH.

Alexis is currently developing the series adaptation of Avery Bishop's bestselling novel GIRL GONE MAD with Katharine Werner; developing ANGIE with creators Katharine and Zachary Werner, with Iron Ocean producing; attached to direct the feature THINK OF THE CHILDREN for Magnetic Labs; and recently co-wrote the feature THE PATSY, currently set up with CineMachine Media Works. Her previous development work includes projects with Netflix, Screen Gems, 101 Studios, Stampede Ventures, Escape Artists, Wonderland Sound and Vision, Freeform, Gaumont, Range, AGBO, All3Media, and Gotham Group.

Alexis's award-winning short film THE HAIRCUT premiered at AFI FEST, won 13 festival awards, and screened at more than 45 film festivals worldwide. The film received support from the Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Foundation Student Production Grant, Impact First Films, Creative District, and the Panavision New Filmmaker Program. Her short film BAMBINA was selected to screen as part of the American Cinematheque's 12th Annual Focus on Female Directors program. As one of five filmmakers selected for the inaugural Warner Bros. Emerging Film Directors Workshop, she directed the sci-fi short SENSUM, which premiered on HBO GO.

Alexis earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University and studied Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre in London. She began her career as an intern on STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP through fellow Syracuse alumnus Aaron Sorkin, where she interned for director Thomas Schlamme. After graduating, she went on to become Schlamme's assistant before transitioning into documentary filmmaking and ultimately finding her way to narrative directing through the AFI Directing Workshop for Women. Alexis is also an alumna of the Warner Bros. Television Directors Workshop, Ryan Murphy's Half Foundation, the Fox Filmmakers Lab, and the Fox Global Directors Initiative, where she served as a drama apprentice on HOMELAND, shadowing Lesli Linka Glatter.

Alexis currently serves as a Co-Leader of the DGA Women's Steering Committee Squad. She was previously selected as a WSC Squad mentee, where she was mentored in features by Beck & Woods. She was also recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as one of its "Emerging Female Directors" through the Alice Initiative.

Outside of filmmaking, Alexis is an avid potter and woodworker whose curiosity often pulls her into new disciplines and experiences—an instinct that also shapes the stories she chooses to tell.
